Going abroad and studying the course of your choice sounds very interesting but a lot of steps and processes come in between before you reach your ultimate goal.
The first step to starting this whole process is to pin point the course that would best suit you and your future endeavours. Finding the right course might take time, considering the variety of options that are Available to choose from.
Once you have the course nailed down, it’s time to look for universities around the world that might have your specific course or an even better version of it. This could take a lot of time considering the number of universities. Every university will look perfect and picking the best one would be a task.
Once you have gotten through the university and course shortlisting it’s now time to view all of their individual websites and see what they have to offer to an international student. Things to keep in mind when browsing through the websites are: eligibility criteria for your course, time when the application process starts, time when it ends, international student policy, specific scholarships, fee structure and accommodation options.
After you have researched the university and the course and have an idea of the things required of you it’s time to book slots for the language proficiency tests (if needed) or for the entrance exams. Foreign universities have set scores you need to obtain to secure admission, so preparation is a must.
Besides researching about the university it’s also important to take a look at the VISA and passport rules of the country you’re going to be studying in. Different countries have different rules and regulations for the application of a general visa or a student visa. So it’s important to take a look at that.
All of the above steps might take one or two months of proper research and counselling. And when that is done, all you have to do is fill in an application form for your course, write an amazing and relatable essay or answer the questions asked and submit your application during the right time with the application fee (if required).
Your application will now go through several rounds of screening by the university officials and you will be kept updated on the status of it. So, all that there is left to do now is sit and wait for our acceptance!
It’s very important to apply to at least five universities in order to minimize the disappointment faced by rejection. We need to remember that a lot of people from around the world are also applying to our course and the competition is tight. So having back up options makes sure that an academic year does not go to waste.
