Students generally opt for the tier 4 (general) student visa which is sponsored by a licensed university or college to which the student has secured admission.

International students accepted in a British educational institution have to apply for a UK Student Visa before their courses start.

In addition to the money required to pay for their course, students also need £1,265 per month if studying in London or £1,015 per month if studying outside London. If they have dependents, they need approximately £800 per month for each of them.

    For pursuing a job in the UK, Employees generally opt for the Skilled Worker visa which allows them to come to or stay in the UK to do an eligible job with an approved employer. This visa has replaced the Tier 2 (General) work visa.

    To qualify for this VISA, the employee will need to meet the following list of requirements:

    • Work for a UK employer
    • Have a certificate of sponsorship from the employer with information about the role they will be doing
    • Have a job that is on the eligible list of occupations
    • Be paid a minimum salary
    • To apply for this visa the employee must have a confirmed job position in any firm or business in the UK.
    • The employee will also need to take a proficiency language test and score accordingly to qualify for the visa.

    This visa is valid for 5 years. If the employee wants to stay for longer than that, then they will need to get it updated.

    If they change jobs or employers during the duration of their stay, then also they will need to get their visas updated.

    After 5 years in the UK, the employee is eligible to apply to settle permanently in the UK.

    To apply for this visa, the employee needs to apply online for a ‘skilled worker visa’ and submit the following documents:

    • Certificate of a sponsorship reference number
    • Proof of language proficiency
    • Valid passport
    • Job title and annual salary
    • Job’s occupation code
    • Name of employer and sponsor license number
    • Evidence that they have enough personal savings to sustain in the UK
    • Proof of relationship with partner and children (If they are applying with you)

    Foreign nationals are prohibited from getting a job inside the UK with this type of visa. 

     

    If a family wants to join their family members who are either studying or working in the UK, then they need to do so as “dependents”.

     

    The UK Family Visa is issued to visit family members in the UK. This Visa type is for people who have family members working and living in the UK and want to join them for more than six months, as their dependents. The dependents can be husband or wife (spouse), partner, fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner, children, parents, or other family members.

    The UK Transit Visa is for foreigners who are not from the EEA (EU countries, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) or Switzerland and are using the UK as a transit country to pass from another country to their destination.

    • Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) – for those who have to change flights in the UK without leaving the airport
    • Visitor in Transit Visa – for foreigners who have to leave the airport and take another means of travel, of making a part of their traveling through the land. This visa can be valid for up to 4 days.
